# Giveaways

> Run, edit, end, and reroll server giveaways.

Giveaways make participation visible and time-bound. Use a dedicated channel
and announce eligibility clearly before starting one. The giveaway management
commands require **Manage Server**.

## Commands

| Command            | Use it to                                 |
| ------------------ | ----------------------------------------- |
| `/giveaway start`  | Create a giveaway                         |
| `/giveaway edit`   | Edit an active giveaway                   |
| `/giveaway end`    | End an active giveaway                    |
| `/giveaway reroll` | Choose a new winner for an ended giveaway |

## Responsible giveaway checklist

* State the prize, duration, number of winners, and eligibility.
* Keep the giveaway message in a channel members can find later.
* Use `/giveaway edit` instead of starting a duplicate when a detail changes.
* Use `/giveaway reroll` when a winner cannot claim the prize.
* Record the final winner and handoff outside the bot if the prize is sensitive.

`/giveaway edit` is for an active giveaway, `/giveaway end` closes the active
entry period, and `/giveaway reroll` applies to an ended giveaway. Keep the
prize handoff and any eligibility verification with the staff team.
