Hedwig’s music system uses Lavalink for playback and recognizes search terms plus links from YouTube Music, Spotify, SoundCloud, Apple Music, Audiomack, and Tidal. It provides queue management, playback controls, lyrics, and personal liked songs. Successful playback and resolution depend on the configured Lavalink node and resolver/provider availability.

Start a session

You can use /search when you want to choose from matching tracks instead of immediately playing the first result. /play accepts a required query containing a title, search phrase, or supported URL. /spotify track, /spotify album, and /spotify artist look up Spotify metadata, while /spotify preview returns a short preview where available.

Liked songs

These commands are personal: they let each member keep a library without changing the server’s shared queue policy. /like and /dislike act on the current track; /playliked adds the member’s saved tracks to the active queue.

Music troubleshooting

  1. Make sure Hedwig can Connect and Speak in the voice channel.
  2. Make sure you are in a voice channel before using /play.
  3. Use /nowplaying and /queue to confirm the player state.
  4. Try ,rejoin before clearing a session.
  5. Use /forcefix only when the player is genuinely stuck.
Music providers can change availability, metadata, or rate limits. A provider error does not necessarily mean the Discord permissions are wrong. The bot must also be connected to the same voice channel as the member who starts playback.
